Will Reddit launch an NFT platform of its own?
It seems that Reddit is preparing to launch its native NFT platform.
The American social media platform Reddit seems to be employing new team members for an NFT (non-fungible token) platform. Reddit is looking for new applicants for designing, building, and maintenance of the platform.
The Reddit team is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for its NFT platform who will be in charge of "millions of users to create, buy, sell, and use NFT-backed digital goods." Greenhouse explains.
The job ad says that the position is for a person with 5 years of experience in backend development and being able "to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load." In this regard, the job posting post says: "If there is one thing we’ve noticed with NFTs, they too have an incredible power to create a sense of participation and belonging,"
"With every new NFT project, a vibrant community of owners pops up with it. Fans of today’s biggest creators and brands are now flocking to buy digital goods directly from them — to support them, to gain exclusive access, and to feel a greater sense of connection with them. Over time, we believe this will only grow, and NFTs will play a central role in how fans support their favorite creators and communities."
Reddit is an American social media platform where registered users can vote up the content posted by other members. The discussions have also been hot in the crypto space in the last couple of years. They managed to pump some assets like DOGE under the platform’s subreddits. You can earn community points by posting content and getting rewards. The community points are tokens similar to those of the cryptocurrencies in two forms moons or bricks.
While some social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have been trying to promote NFT technology, some crypto exchanges have been working steadily and launched their own NFT markets. As a case in support of the NFT technology, and since they already have the Novi wallet, Facebook suggested that this wallet would probably support NFTs. In September, and in a similar gesture, Twitter announced that they were working on enabling users to set NFTs as their profile picture.
"The NFT movement has only just begun," says Reddit.
